Play, Learn, Explore
Recently rebuilt and revamped our brand new family farm is the ideal place to visit with the whole family.
There’s entertainment for all ages whether you’re feeding Larry the llama, putting your foot down our mini tractor derby or making a splash in our sand and water play area.
Being both educational and fun at the same time there’s hours of enjoyment to be had at the family farm for the whole family!
HISTORY
Historical records confirm that there has been a ‘menagerie’ at Wentworth since 1738.
Surviving lists show that by the middle of the 19th century animals and birds kept there represented all the continents with the exception of Antarctica. Notable mammals listed included antelope, a tapir, buffalo, kangaroo, ring-tailed lemurs and astonishingly an American bear. The list of birds was equally impressive including an eagle owl, peregrine falcon, grey parrots, vultures and even an emu!
ANIMALS
Although perhaps not quite as exotic today, our collection includes llamas, alpacas, pigs, ponies, sheep, goats, foxes, meerkats, peacocks, various aviary birds…the list goes on and on!
Look out for an even greater and constantly changing range of domestic, and farm animals plus British wildlife and some exotics as the farm develops.
EDUCATION
Our friendly and enthusiastic team welcome school visits where little ones will gain ‘hand’s on’ experience with a variety of small reptiles, insects and mammals whilst learning about husbandry, habitat and conservation in informal and entertaining sessions.
PLAY
Whilst you’re here make sure to visit our fantastic, interactive sand and water play area where co-operative play is firmly encouraged! Children can dig to their hearts content whilst pumping and diverting water around a system of channels and spillways that will delight children of all ages and abilities. Plenty of seating for picnicking parents and grandparents makes this the perfect way to pass an afternoon.
Don’t forget to take a spin around our ‘Tractor Derby’ race track or alternatively, let your little ones run off some steam on our two adventure playgrounds aimed at children of differing ages.

Meet The Team

Luke
Luke’s our dashing farm manager and has been with us now for over eight years. Luke has kept and bred birds (including a barn owl) since childhood. He’s also a dab hand with the mammals too having hand reared lambs, meerkats and foxes.

Alex
Hailing originally from Luxembourg, Alex is our resident exotics expert. He keeps a menagerie of weird and wonderful animals at home including skunks, snakes and a civit. His favourite creatures on the farm are the poison dart frogs.

Clare
Farm matriarch Clare has been a part of the furniture here now for twelve years. Possessing a particular soft spot for all things fluffy, she’s fondly referred to as the ‘crazy guinea pig lady’. It’s a title well deserved as she has thirty of them at home!

Emma P
Emma arrived here a mere whippersnapper at the age of sixteen. She has a keen interest in all things exotic particularly reptiles, and absolutely adores the meerkats, helping to hand rear both Digger and Scratch.

Tom
Young Tom is an animal lover extraordinaire with a passion for wildlife (and tattoos) in every form. His favourite creatures on the farm are the geckos, so much so that he keeps two crested ones at home as pets.

Emma W
New kid on the block and baby of the gang, Emma’s favourite animals are our beautiful foxes, Lucky and Dusty, and understandably so. Emma is also a keen aquarist, having four tropical aquariums at home!
